Lencois is one of Brazil’s hidden gems! Located in the north of Brazil, Lençóis Maranhenses is an untouched, vast national park made up entirely of rolling white sand dunes where freshwater lagoons nestle between the dips. It remains a relatively unknown natural attraction. Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is one of Brazil’s top natural attractions. It is an ecosystem formed of white sand dunes which cover 383,000 acres and look like bedsheets (lençóis in Portuguese) spread out on the Northeastern coast. Seasonal lagoons which fill up with rainwater, mostly during the first six months of the year, make Lençóis Maranhenses a unique kind of landscape. Mangroves, deserted beaches, bursitis —a graceful kind of palm tree—and the Preguiças River help compose the park’s diversity. Experience the jeep and ATV quadbiking tours to the exotic tourquise lagoons, go kitesurfing and relax on the dunes while watching a beautiful sunset.
